Megumi is a qualified horticulturist. She is a member of the Nippon Bonsai Association and Ikebana International Sydney Chapter. She has been interviewed on radio, television and magazines and has been a contributor to articles on bonsai in Australia, Japan and USA. In November 2008 Megumi received the Bonsai Instructors Certificate from the Nippon Bonsai Association. She is the first overseas person to receive this recognition.

Today fly with Qantas for overnight flight to Tokyo.
Morning arrival in Tokyo Haneda Airport from where we take local train to Shinagawa then Shinkansen to Kyoto.
Today we leave the hotel by coach to visit one of the finest examples of Japanese landscape design at Katsura Imperial Villa or its counterpart, the spacious Shugaku-in Imperial Villa. Afternoon is at your leisure.
Today is free for you to explore this former imperial capital at your own pace.
After breakfast, we catch the Thunder Bird Express train to Kanazawa. Kanazawa’s winding streets and alleys are lined with classic homes and traditional shops. We will take a walking tour visit the beautiful Kenroku-en Garden, one of the “Three Great Gardens” of Japan. Then we visit the Nagamachi Samurai Quarter that shows us just how the Samurai would have lived in times past. Also enjoy a tea ceremony.
Today we enjoy a leisurely walking tour. We will visit the Geisha House district, a traditional place of feasts and entertainment where geisha have been entertaining people since the Edo period. We will watch artisans making gold foil, and might have a chance to watch and participate in an amazing Taiko drumming display.
Today we travel by Shinkansento Omiya, where we will be met by our local guide and travel by chartered coach to Nikko, en route visit Satsuki Bonsai Nursery in Kanuma. Satsuki azaleas are popular bonsai plants for many reasons. It can take a hard pruning and the flowers are amazing. Check in to hotel in Nikko. Dinner at hotel.

This morning we visit the majestic Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then visit the nearby Rinnoji Temple and explore the lavish Taiyuinbyo Shrine, also known as Iemitsu Mausoleum. Later we head to peaceful Lake Chuzenji, created by an eruption of Mt. Nantai 20,000 years ago, and see one of Japan's three great waterfalls - Kegon Falls. Return to Nikko and enjoy diner at hotel.

After breakfast we take local train to Utsunomiya, from where we catch Shinkansen to Sendai, the north’s largest city. Upon arrival, check in our hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure.
Enjoy a day excursion to Matsushima Bay, one of Japan's Three Scenic Wonders. We visit Zuiganji and Entsuin, two of the must-see Buddhist temples in Matsushima. Perched on a small island on the coast off Matsushima is the Godaido Hall. We will visit the Kanrantei Pavilion provides great tradition Japanese tea. Then we travel to the sacred Ojima Island. There are Buddhist rock carvings and meditation caves.
Today we leave Hirazumi for Hirosaki Castle. The castle and its cherry blossoms are known as one the best scenic spots in Japan. Continue travel to Aomori and check in our hotel.
After breakfast, we visit the Oirase Gorge, one of the most beautiful river valleys in Japan. We will take a sightseeing boat to the small town of Yasumiya, taking in close-up views of the peninsulas and the Lake Towada. Another highlight of the day is a Ropeway ride at Mount Hakkoda, known for its seasonal beauty includes nature, hiking and famous hot springs.
Today we take Shinkansen to Omiya. Upon arrival check in your 8th World Bonsai Convention accommodation.
